  • Last week I received a really lovely surprise. I was awarded a Queen’s Jubilee Medal for services to the Emergency Services. I had no idea I was getting one. I’ve never received a medal before! Up until the 30th April this year, I had been a Paramedic for 12 years. Five weeks ago I left the ambulance service for good, but nonetheless I had already been awarded a medal in this UK jubilee year prior to leaving (I just didn’t know about it, so I’m told).

I wasn’t able to be presented with it because of my looming university assessments this week (it wouldn’t have been by The Queen anyway) so I received it with a nice note.

I had no idea this medal even existed but it’s apparently been awarded to those who have served in the Emergency Services in the UK for a certain number of years, and also to those in the UK Armed Forces.

Personally, I am totally and utterly pleased as punch to have received this medal! Amazed and thrilled. And a nice way to end a career.
